Follow the New Command
(John 15:9-12)
Overseer Sung-Hyun Kim
God
is love.
He
gave great grace to mankind.
This was loving mankind like His own body (Jn 3:16).
This love was commanded to His Son (Jn 15:9),
the Son loved His disciples the same way
and He called this ‘the New Command’ (1 Jn 4:21).
‘The New Command’ means that there was an old one (Mt 5:43).
Mankind has nothing but fleshly thoughts and passions.
This becomes God’s enemy.
Those who become God’s enemy cannot please Him (Rom 8:7-8).
When Jesus was baptized and came up from the water,
God said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” (Mt 3:17)
and gave His command at that moment.
The old command was, “I have placed Your enemies in Your hands.”
The New Command is, “Love your enemies.”
The enemies of those who belong to God
are enemies of God.
This is faith.
He said, “It is mine to avenge, I will repay” (Rom 12:19).
This means God will personally pay back their enemies.
○ This is believing God will pay back
the enemies of those who belong to God.
Those who do not belong to God handle their enemies themselves.
○ Those who belong to God entrust their enemies to the Lord.
He tells us to entrust our enemies to God and love them.
○ Paying back your own enemies
means you want to be the judge.
Such people do not belong to God.
※ Those who entrust their enemies to God
will not pay them back with their own hands.
God will surely pay back their enemies.
