New Walk

(Ephesians 4:17)

“I want to change according to the Lord’s will, but it is really hard. I strive to give up my self-centered ways, yet I keep falling. What does the Lord think of me? Am I hopeless?”

1. Efforts for Change
No, you are failing. The Lord fully understands your heart’s struggles to change into the state He desires. The Lord is pleased with your struggle to rise again and continue to move towards Him even if you fall ten times a day. This is because you are responding to the Gospel that the Lord has bestowed through His sacrifice. We, who were once dead because of sin, have been brought to life by the Lord’s sacrifice. Therefore, it is reasonable to strive not to return to our previous life of death.

2. New Cognitive System
When we were born again, we acquired a new nature. This transformation does not mean that God’s nature was simply added to our original nature; rather our old nature has disappeared and a new nature has emerged. The change we should undergo as Christians does not merely involve adding new elements to the cognitive system we have before we are born again. Instead, at the moment of being born again, our previous awareness system disappeared, a new one was established, and it is upon this foundation that continuous change occurs.

3. Guided Today

Even if the judgments and decisions of non-believers may seem rational, their plans and actions inevitably result in futile outcomes. This is because their very standards are flawed. We must not walk as non-believers do in the futility of their minds. The Lord leads us into eternal happiness, ensuring our walk is not futile. Let us no longer cling to the old mind system we held before having faith, but receive the guidance of the Lord who leads us today.
