Hearing and Learning Him

(Ephesians 4:21)

“If Jesus were to call me personally, how amazing would that be? Then I could live my faith fully.” “If Jesus were to teach me directly, how wonderful would that be? Then I would obey everything.”

1. By Jesus
When someone says such things, it is as if they are assuming, “I have never had the chance to hear Jesus’ calling or to learn from Him.” However, is that true? No, it is not. Just as the Lord called and taught people in the time of the apostles, He continues to call and teach us personally even today. Paul said to the Ephesus Church, “If indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus.” He said this to those who had never seen Him face to face.

2. Through Pastors
The Lord, who worked through the apostles, is now working through pastors He has given to each church as a gift. “teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20). As promised, the Lord is still with His servants today. Therefore, if we hear Jesus proclaimed through the ministry of the church and receive His teachings, we can confess, “I have heard Jesus and have been taught in Him.”

3. A System Based on Transmission
Many individuals disregard the system by which truth is mediated through transmission. They become obsessed with acquiring secret knowledge unknown to others, believing that such knowledge will elevate their status among people. They treat what is learned and heard through transmission as mere human words, often ignoring and attacking it. We should not do this. Through this system, which God Himself has established, He proclaims and teaches the truth in Jesus, which is the Gospel of salvation.
